Will the treatments hurt?
Palomar Pulsed Light Systems use a unique long pulse width that delivers energy to the skin over a relatively long period of time. This makes the pulses safer and more comfortable. In addition, our model has a cooling system which works simultaneously with the laser to cool the skin.
Are they any adverse reactions to treatment?
You may experience temporary redness and a mild “sunburn”- like effect that may last a couple hours.
Number of Laser Sessions Needed
It has been shown that long term reduction of hair is achieved with at least 6 sessions of laser hair removal treatment depending on the type of hair and skin color. The number of sessions also depends on other factors such as the area of the body where there treatments is being done, skin and hair color as well as gender. Normally dark hair on light skin is easier to remove using laser hair removal. Some areas such as the face especially in males normally require more sessions to achieve results.
Hair grows in phases and laser hair removal is only effective in the hair that is currently growing; this is the reason why several sessions are needed to kill the hair in the several phases of hair growth. What color of hair is less effective to be treated with the laser machine?
Laser Hair Removal is less effective in the following hair colors/types: Red, Blonde and gray.
What is the interval period between sessions?
Normally laser hair removal treatments are spaced from three to eight weeks in between sessions depending on the body area and the hair cycle for that area. In general small areas are treated every 4 to 5 weeks; medium areas 5 to 6 weeks and large areas 8 to 10 weeks.

No, you should avoid any kind of tanning two weeks prior to your laser hair removal treatment and one and a half week after treatment.
Is six sessions of Laser Hair Removal enought to be completely hairless?
Every laser hair removal treatment is different depending on the skin and hair color, age among other factors. Six sessions is the recommended number of sessions for the average person to see a significant reduction of hair in an area, but is is recommended to do more sessions. For darker skin colors anywhere between 15 to 20 sessions are recommended.
Can a patient wax or tweeze before laser hair removal?
No, patients should not wax or tweeze at least six weeks before their laser hair removal session and must only shave and continue shaving troughtout their laser hair removal sessions.
